【Press seminar】 The research group of Deputy Principal Research Scientist Dr. Satoshi Uchida (Associate Professor, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine) at the Innovation Center of NanoMedicine reported that optimized nano-micelles can induce efficient genome editing in the mouse brain. 【Press Release】 A research group consisting of Prof. Yutaka Kondo, Yoshihiko Tasaki, Graduate student (Division of Cancer Biology, Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine) made a new therapeutic drug that the targeting of TUG1 by anti-TUG1 coupled with our new cancer-specific drug delivery system (TUG1-DDS). This was collaborative research with Nagoya City University, The University of Tokyo, Innovation Center of NanoMedicine, Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research.

This was collaborative research with Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, Graduate School of Medicine and Faculty of Medicine, The University of Tokyo (Professor: Tatsuya YAMASOBA) Research group of Dr. Yu MATSUMOTO and Department of Bioengineering, Graduate School of Engineering the University of Tokyo (Head: Ryo MIYAKE) Research group of Dr. Horacio CABRAL. Exosomes, which microRNA cut out by editing mRNA in a cell wrapped with a lipid bilayer membrane, undertakes a role in signal transmission between cells, but its analytical technology is still under development. However, attention is being paid to the purpose of developing new diagnostic technology as it leads to various diseases such as cancer.
The iXstream, Inc. has established a technology to acquire particle size, particle surface, and intra-particle information as a series of data, and will start selling the nanoparticle measuring device "iX-Scale".

The fundamental research has been jointly conducting with the Institute of Medical Science – the University of Tokyo, Sapporo Medical University, Kawasaki Institute of Industrial Promotion - Innovation Center of NanoMedicine, Keio University Hospital and NanoCarrier Co., Ltd. (AccuRna Inc. during development).

【Press conference】The Innovation Center of Nanomedicine, Kawasaki Institute of Industrial Promotion started collaborative research with the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science on April 1st 2020. It aims to create technology for the rapid development of mRNA vaccine integrated with an adjuvant function to be prepared for the recurrence of the new coronavirus (covid-19), and /or further mutated species of “coronavirus”.

【Press conference】Dr. Kazunori Kataoka, Director General, iCONM, Dr. Kouhei Tsumoto, Professor, University of Tokyo, Dr. Yasutaka Anraku, Visiting Scientist, iCONM / Project Associate Professor, The University of Tokyo, Dr. Takanori Yokota, Professor, Tokyo Medical and Dental University and their research group designed and synthesized smart nanomachine® that efficiently deliver antibody drugs into the brain and succeeded in demonstrating the suppression of amyloid β aggregation in brain parenchyma at low doses in Alzheimer-type dementia model mice, and a joint press conference was held.

【Press Release】Dr. Kazunori Kataoka (Principal Research Scientist／Laboratory Head)'s joint research group of Innovation Center of NanoMedicine (iCONM) including Dr. Takuya Miyazaki from Kanagawa Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (KISTEC), Dr. Horacio Cabral (Associate Professor), Dr. Takeshi Nagamatsu (Associate Professor) Dr. Kensuke Suzuki from The University of Tokyo, have developed nanomedicine for chemotherapy during pregnancy. With this nanomedicine, we can treat intractable diseases like preeclampsia and preterm birth without drug distribution in fetus.
This press release received the Publicity Award from the Public Relations Committee of the Polymer Society of Japan.
