【Report】COINS research team led by Dr. Kazunori Kataoka, COINS Research Leader (Director General of iCONM, Professor of Policy Alternatives Research Institute, The University of Tokyo) succeeded in developing "BBB-crossing nanomachines which enter the brain via a systemic route. These machines cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which normally impedes drug delivery to the brain, to efficiently reach neurons for glycemic control.

This research result was published in "Nature Communications (UK scientific journal)" on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. This result is expected to develop into a breakthrough therapeutic drug development for intractable cranial nerve disease such as Alzheimer's disease that effective treatment method has not yet been established.
The articles regarding this matter were introduced on Nikkeisangyo Shimbun, Nikkankogyo Shimbun, Kanagawa Shimbun and more.
