Innovation Center of NanoMedicine (iCONM) Kawasaki Institute of Industrial Promotion held a luncheon seminar under the title of “Dream comes true - Development of BBB-crossing nanomachines and social implementation “jointly with Braizon Therapeutics, Inc. at the 41st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Biomaterials at Tsukuba International Congress Center <EPOCHAL TSUKUBA>on November 24-26.
The seminar started with a lecture by Prof. Kazunori Kataoka (iCONM Director-General) under the title of “A Dream on NanoMachine”and followed by Project Associate Prof. Yasutaka Anraku (COINS Theme 2 Leader) who talked about the basics and applications of BBB crossing nanomachines and Dr. Masahiro Otsu gave talk on social implementation.
This session of introductions to brain DDS has attracted an enormous number of audience and 150 prepared seats were full.
The BBB (blood-brain barrier) has been a major barrier to drug discovery in the CNS (central nervous system). We expect that the nanomachines of this center will be a significant impact to smash the barrier.
