On Friday, November 17 – Saturday, November 18, a retreat camp was held at Shonan International Village Center in Kanagawa Pref.
In this year’s retreat camp which became the 4th time, we held workshop style group discussions from the three viewpoints of "R&D", "Commercialization/Social Implementation" and "Intellectual Property", with the keyword "strategy"
On the first day, Dr. Tomohiro Anzai, COINS Theme 6 leader, gave a talk on “Strategy” and followed by “R&D strategy workshop” conducted by Dr. Shintaro Sengoku, COINS Theme 5 member.
Then, Dr. Chikafumi Yokoyama (CEO, ReproCELL Inc.) gave a special lecture on
“How to commercialize and put innovative research outcome into practical use”. Dr. Anzai conducted “Introduction of Commercialization/ Social Implementation strategy and workshop” and Mr. Hirokazu Iwasaki, COINS Research Promotion leader, gave “Intellectual property Workshop” followed by group presentation.
Prof. Tatsuro Irimura, COINS Advisor (Juntendo University Graduate School), Mr. Toshio Asano (Asahi Kasei Corporation), Mr. Hiroshi Misawa (Medical Technology Association Japan), Mr. Hiroshi Kono, Kawasaki Institute of Industrial Promotion, Prof. Hiromichi Kimura, COINS Project leader and Prof. Kazunori Kataoka, COINS Research leader gave review on the innovative ideas of each group’s presentation.

The 2nd retreat camp suggested iCONM’s mission in order to achieve iCONM’s vision which was created from group discussion at first retreat camp. On 3rd retreat camp, in order to achieve our common research goal ”Realization of in-body hospitals”, we confirmed the image of in-body hospitals drawn by ourselves and discussed issues to be raised and how to overcome.
And this time, the retreat camp became very meaningful for us to consider the way of research, business and intellectual strategy towards social implementation of R&D that we work on our daily bases.
