5th COINS General Meeting was held on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 in the main conference room, Life Science & Environment Research Center.
This meeting is held every half year with every participating institutions primarily to present their of research progress.
As there will be a mid-term evaluation of phase 1 to phase 2 next fiscal year (H28), there were presentations for pre-mid-term evaluation on the following:
1.How far the research progressed * Forecasts
2.How close it reached to social Implementation (including intellectual property) * Back casting
3.How to carry out after next fiscal year
Moreover, based on the presentations, there was a panel discussion with each theme leader as moderator.
Ultimately, future roadmaps were affirmed in the meeting, and was followed by a buffet style reception. The participants exchanged their ideas and opinions beyond their sub-themes in a friendly and sociable atmosphere.
Mr. Ogawa, a lawyer, gave a talk titled “How to handle a conflict of interest,” and focused on the social implementation of research outcomes.
Moreover, a poster session took place and there was an active discussion on 30 poster presentations.
The general meeting was a great success, encouraging members to bond with the aim to implement a “hospital inside the body”as COINS begins its phase 2 in April.
